Over 600 million pounds of candy is purchased every year for Halloween.
Its a holiday that is filled with laughter, screams and early morning toothaches. Its also the only holiday that warrants kids to go from house to house asking for bite-sized goodies with just 3 simple words. Whether youre driving or sitting at home on All Hallows Eve, heres a few tips on how to keep the little ones safe!
Chilling at Home:
⢠Make sure all outdoor lights are in working order and replace those that arent
⢠Remove anything that people could trip over, like lawn decorations, bikes, garden hoses, etc.
⢠Just as a precaution, keep pets in a separate room and away from trick-or-treaters
Out to Trick:
⢠Should go without writing, but young children should always be accompanied by an adult
⢠Never cut across yards
⢠Always stay on the sidewalk or path. If none is available, walk in the direction of traffic and stay as far to the left as possible
⢠Only go to homes with a porch light and never go inside
⢠Cross the street in a group and always use the crosswalk.
⢠Dont assume cars will stop. Make sure they see you before crossing in front of them.
⢠Older kids should carry a cell phone for quick commun ication.
Dressing Up:
⢠Make sure buy only flame resistant costumes, wigs and accessories.
⢠Flashlights must accompany the group when walking through the neighborhood.
⢠Wear bright costumes or reflective tape so that they are visible to motorists
Accidents come in all shapes and sizes, so make sure to follow the aforementioned tips and stay safe out there!
